Our Guarantees

Hiring a concreter shouldn't be a gamble. Here's exactly what we promise on every job — each one the answer to a complaint people have about the trade.

Our guarantees at a glance

On every job, Mount Gambier Concrete promises: we answer the phone and turn up when we say; a written, fixed-price quote with no surprise variations; proper site prep, drainage falls and reinforcement so your concrete is built not to crack; licensed and fully insured work to Australian Standards; a clean, tidy site on completion; and a written workmanship warranty plus a follow-up check-in once the concrete has cured.

What We Promise on Every Job

We Answer the Phone & Turn Up

The number one complaint about concreters is simple: they don't call back and they don't turn up. We do both. You get a real person on the phone, a reply to your enquiry, and a crew that arrives on the agreed day — or a call in advance if anything changes.

Written Fixed-Price Quote

Every job starts with a written, itemised, fixed-price quote so you know exactly what you're paying before a single bag of cement is opened. The price we quote is the price you pay. If the scope genuinely changes, we talk to you and agree it in writing first — no nasty surprises when the invoice lands.

Engineered for Drainage & No Cracking

Cracking and pooling water are the two defects that ruin concrete, and both come down to preparation. We compact and prepare the base properly, set the right falls for drainage, reinforce with steel or mesh to spec, and cut control joints where they belong. It's the unseen work that decides whether your concrete lasts 5 years or 50.

Licensed & Fully Insured

We are licensed and carry public liability insurance, with documentation available on request — useful for builders, businesses and rural clients. Work is carried out to the relevant Australian Standards, and every job comes with a proper GST tax invoice so you have a clear record of exactly what you paid for.

Clean Site on Completion

A concrete job creates mess — formwork offcuts, washout, spoil from the dig. We clean it up. When we pack down, the site is left tidy and ready to use, not littered with the leftovers of the job. It's a small thing that says a lot about how a crew works.

Written Workmanship Warranty

We stand behind our work with a written workmanship warranty, so you know what's covered if anything isn't right. We also check back in once the concrete has fully cured to make sure you're happy with the finished result — because a good local reputation is built one solid job at a time.

These aren't slogans — they're how we run every job, from a single shed slab to a full commercial pour. Read about how to choose a concreter, or see why concrete cracks and how we prevent it.

What "Fixed Price" Actually Means

The most common sting in concreting isn't the concrete — it's the quote that looked cheap because it quietly left things out, then reappeared as "variations" once the job was underway. A thin base, no steel, or old-slab removal billed as an extra can turn a bargain into the dearest quote on the street.

Our fixed price is the whole job in writing. Before we start, you get an itemised quote covering excavation and spoil removal, base build-up and compaction, formwork, reinforcement, the concrete at the correct thickness, your chosen finish, control-joint cutting and site clean-up. The number we write down is the number you pay. If the ground throws up a genuine surprise once we open it up — a buried tank, a soft cavity in the limestone, a services clash — we stop, show you, and agree any change with you in writing before we carry on. You are never handed a bigger bill at the end without knowing why.

Locked in before we start

  • The total price, in writing
  • The scope — exactly what's included
  • The finish and thickness
  • Removal and cartage of any old slab
  • Site clean-up on completion

Only changes with your say-so

  • A genuine buried surprise, shown to you first
  • A change you ask for mid-job
  • Extra work you approve in writing
  • Never a silent end-of-job add-on

Standing Behind the Work

A guarantee is only worth anything if the person giving it is still around and willing to act on it. We're a local Limestone Coast team, not a crew passing through — you can reach us after the job, and our workmanship warranty is provided in writing with your paperwork. If a defect in our workmanship shows up within the warranty period, we come back and put it right.

It's worth being honest about what a workmanship warranty covers and what it can't. Concrete is a natural material, and fine surface (hairline) shrinkage cracking can occur in any slab as it cures — it's normal and doesn't affect strength. What proper preparation prevents is the damaging kind: structural cracking from a poor base, movement from missing or badly placed joints, and pooling from bad falls. Our job is to control the things that can be controlled, which is exactly why we prepare, reinforce and joint the way we do. You can read the full picture in our guide on why concrete cracks and how we prevent it.

Every job is also carried out to the relevant Australian Standards and backed by full public liability insurance, and we're happy to provide our insurance and licensing documentation on request. If you're weighing up quotes, our guide on how to choose a concreter walks through the questions worth asking every operator you talk to — not just us.
