Restore It Before You Replace It

Not every tired driveway or cracked path needs ripping out. If the base slab is still sound, resurfacing, repair and sealing can bring it back to life for a fraction of the cost of a full replacement — a fresh surface, a new colour or pattern, and years more service out of concrete you already have.

The key is an honest assessment. Mount Gambier Concrete will look at your concrete and tell you straight whether it's a repair-and-resurface job or whether the slab has genuinely failed and replacement is the smarter long-term spend. No upselling you into a full pour you don't need — and no patching over a slab that's beyond saving.

Resurfacing, Repairs & Sealing

Concrete Resurfacing

Give tired, stained or plain concrete a fresh new surface — resurfacing and spray-on overlays that renew the look without a full replacement.

Crack Repair

Assess and repair cracks in driveways, paths and slabs — treating the cause where we can, not just filling the gap.

Driveway Resurfacing

Refresh a worn or faded driveway with a new coloured or patterned surface, restoring kerb appeal at a fraction of replacement cost.

Concrete Sealing

Protective sealing for driveways, patios and decorative concrete — resisting oil, stains and wear, and keeping colour and finish looking fresh.

Repair the Cause, Not Just the Symptom

A crack filled without understanding why it cracked will usually crack again. Where we repair, we look at what caused it — shrinkage, movement, drainage, a poor base — and address what we can so the fix actually lasts. And when we resurface, we prepare the existing surface properly first so the new finish bonds and wears well.

If you're deciding between repair and replacement, our guide on why concrete cracks is a good place to start — and if a fresh pour is the answer, we can quote a new driveway or slab instead.

How We Resurface & Repair Concrete

A resurfacing job lives or dies on two things: an honest assessment of whether the slab is worth saving, and proper surface preparation so the new finish bonds and lasts. Here's how we approach it.

  1. 01

    Assess the concrete

We look at the slab and work out what's going on — surface wear, shrinkage cracks, or genuine structural failure. Then we tell you straight whether it's a repair-and-resurface job or whether replacement is the smarter spend.

  2. 02

    Diagnose the cause

A crack filled without understanding why it cracked will crack again. We look at drainage, base movement and jointing so we treat the cause, not just the symptom, wherever we can.

  3. 03

    Prepare the surface

We clean and profile the existing concrete — grinding or pressure preparation as needed — so the new overlay or coating has a sound, keyed surface to bond to.

  4. 04

    Repair cracks & damage

We prepare and fill cracks, patch spalled or damaged areas, and address any drainage or falls issues so the repaired surface performs.

  5. 05

    Prime & resurface

We apply a bonding primer, then the resurfacing overlay — plain, coloured, stencilled or spray-on — to renew the look and surface of the concrete.

  6. 06

    Detail, cure & seal

We detail edges and joints, cure the finish, and seal it to protect against stains and wear. We tell you when it's ready to use and how to maintain it.

Honest Assessment, Fixed Price

The most valuable thing we do on a repair job is tell you the truth: whether it's worth saving or whether you'd be throwing good money after bad. There's no upsell to a full replacement you don't need — and no patching over a slab that's beyond it.

Resurfacing & Repair FAQs

Can you fix my cracked concrete, or does it need replacing?
It depends on the cause and extent. Surface and shrinkage cracks can often be repaired and the surface resurfaced. But if the slab has failed structurally — heaved, sunk or broken up from a poor base — replacement is the honest, longer-lasting fix. We'll assess it and tell you straight which option makes sense.
What is concrete resurfacing?
Resurfacing applies a new layer or overlay over existing sound concrete to renew the look and surface — including coloured, stencilled or spray-on finishes. It's a cost-effective way to transform tired concrete without the expense of breaking out and re-pouring, provided the base slab is still solid.
How much does concrete resurfacing cost?
Resurfacing is generally cheaper than full replacement because it reuses the existing slab. The exact cost depends on the area, the condition of the existing concrete and the finish you want. We provide a fixed-price quote after assessing your concrete.
Does sealing really make a difference?
Yes. A good sealer resists oil and stains, reduces surface dusting and wear, protects colour and decorative finishes, and makes concrete much easier to clean. It's a low-cost job that noticeably extends the life and looks of your concrete — we recommend resealing every few years.
Why did my concrete crack in the first place?
Most cracking comes from shrinkage during curing, ground movement, a poorly prepared base, or control joints that were missing or cut too late. Our guide on why concrete cracks explains it in detail — and it's exactly what we prevent on new pours with proper prep and jointing.
