About Mount Gambier Concrete
Quality workmanship. Reliable service. Proudly servicing Mount Gambier & the Limestone Coast.
Concreting Done the Right Way
Mount Gambier Concrete exists to do one thing well: deliver high-quality, reliable concrete solutions built to last for our community. We're a local team covering Mount Gambier and the wider Limestone Coast — from driveways and shed slabs to exposed aggregate, polished floors, decorative finishes and commercial and rural work.
Ask around about concreters and you'll hear the same frustrations again and again: they don't call back, they don't turn up, the quote changes halfway through, and the concrete cracks a year later. We built this business to be the opposite of that. A real person answers the phone. You get a clear, written, fixed-price quote. We turn up on the day we say. And we prepare and pour concrete properly, so it lasts.
Good concrete is mostly about the preparation you never see — compacting the base, setting the right falls for drainage, reinforcing to spec and cutting control joints where they belong. It's the difference between a slab that lasts five years and one that lasts fifty. That's where we put the work in.
Strong · Local · Dependable
Built Solid
Quality concreting, prepared and poured to last. Proper base prep, correct falls, reinforcement and control joints — the unseen work that decides how long concrete lasts.
Built Local
A local Limestone Coast team with local knowledge. We understand Mount Gambier's limestone and volcanic ground and the coastal conditions, and we build for them.
Built on Trust
Honest service, fixed written pricing and a written workmanship warranty. We answer the phone, turn up when we say, and stand behind our work.
Proudly Local to the Limestone Coast
Mount Gambier is the heart of the Limestone Coast — a region built on limestone and volcanic ground, with the famous Blue Lake at its centre. That ground makes proper site preparation and drainage genuinely important for concrete that lasts, and it's something a local crew understands better than someone driving in from the city.
We service the whole region: Mount Gambier and district, out to Millicent, Tantanoola and the coast at Port MacDonnell, Beachport and Robe; north to Penola, the Coonawarra and Naracoorte; and across the Tatiara to Bordertown, Keith and Kingston SE. Wherever you are on the Limestone Coast, we can help.
Note: business details such as our ABN and licence number are shown on your written quote and tax invoice. Ask us any time — we're happy to provide our insurance and licensing documentation.
What Working With Us Looks Like
Hiring a concreter shouldn't feel like a leap of faith. Here's exactly how a job runs with us, from your first call to the follow-up after the concrete has cured — no mystery, no surprises.
- 01
You call or send an enquiry
A real local person picks up or replies — not a call centre. Tell us what you're after, and we'll ask a few questions to understand the site, the use and the finish you have in mind.
- 02
We visit and measure up
We come out, look at the ground, access and levels, and talk through your options honestly — including where you can save money and where cutting corners will cost you later.
- 03
You get a written fixed price
We put the whole job in writing — prep, steel, concrete, finish and clean-up itemised — so you can compare like with like and know the price won't move once we start.
- 04
We book you in and turn up
We lock in a date that works, order the concrete, and arrive when we say. You know who's coming and roughly how long the job will take before a single sod is turned.
- 05
We pour, finish and clean up
We prepare the base, form up, reinforce, pour and finish to the standard we'd want on our own home — then leave the site tidy, not covered in slurry and offcuts.
- 06
We check back after it cures
Once the concrete has cured we follow up to make sure you're happy, and back the work with a written workmanship warranty. If something isn't right, we come back.
Why Local Ground Knowledge Matters Here
Concrete is only as good as what it sits on, and the ground across the Limestone Coast isn't uniform. Around Mount Gambier you're often dealing with limestone and karst — free-draining in places, but with soft pockets and cavities that need to be found and packed before you pour. In the terra rossa (red loam over limestone) country toward Coonawarra and Penola, and the heavier reactive clays in parts of the district, the soil moves as it wets and dries. Get the base and the joints wrong on reactive ground and the slab tells on you within a year or two.
Closer to the coast at Port MacDonnell, Beachport and Robe, salt-laden air is the quiet enemy — it attacks poorly finished surfaces and under-covered reinforcement over time. That's why we set steel at the correct cover, finish surfaces properly and recommend sealing where it earns its keep. None of this is guesswork for a crew that works here every week. It's the difference between a driveway or slab that shrugs off the conditions and one that's patched and ground down within a few seasons.
